Weekend Shopping Trip

08 September 2008
Yesterday I did something I haven't done in months. I used coupons...at Walmart. I swore I would never do this again because of the hassle, but thanks to Alyssa, I knew there were some good deals to be had. So, I put on a brave face, grabbed my daughter and my binder, and off we went. Here is our haul:

The grand total for all this was $57.27. I actually paid $24.29. Coupons are a beautiful thing!

The Sunsilk Daring Volume variety of styling aids were all marked down to $1.50, so the $1.50 off coupon made them free. I like free!

The All Small & Mighty was rolled back to $5, so it was only $4 after coupon. Not bad!

Small bottles of Ken's Salad Dressing were $1.26, so .26 after coupon.

It was a great trip! And the best part is that the cashier was very sweet about the coupons, she was just new and needed a lot of help with them. The folks behind me in line got kind of annoyed because of the wait, but they were all smiling after they saw how much I saved. If Walmart has left a sour taste in your mouth, you might give them another shot. Mine had improved dramatically.

We hit up Kroger and CVS as well. I did okay at Kroger. CVS was great! I got one Right Guard deodorant, a reusable CVS shopping bag, a Contour blood glucose monitor, a gallon of Gandy's milk, a package of Oreos, 2 pkg. Quattro razors, and a 20oz. Diet Pepsi for $4.38. I have really missed CVS! My local store thought I'd died or something because I haven't been there in months! It was great to see "my" cashiers and find some good deals as well.

It was a fun day! Ashley and I had a great time together! She is quite the little couponer in training! I just know she'll want her own binder any day now.

Fallen Off the Wagon

04 August 2008
I confess, I've fallen off the wagon and I'm just sick about it. Since we've moved I haven't done any major shopping. Our stockpile is down to bare bones and I now don't have access to my awesome doubles & triples grocery store. It makes me a little panicky.I still clip and file my coupons, I'm all sorts of organized. I just very rarely leave the house. We did go to Stephenville and shop at HEB and Piggly Wiggly. The pig had awesome meat at a great price. HEB seems to have a few good deals. But neither allows me to shop the way I've been doing. I need to figure these new stores out. I will not admit defeat and start paying full price for stuff! There are deals to be had, I just have to find them!

So, to all you coupon queens out there in the land of no doubles, how do you do it? Here in Podunk my only options are Brookshires, Dollar General, Family Dollar, and Alco.

GDA at Texas Kroger Stores This Week

09 July 2008
I just glanced at the sales ad and am very impressed by what I see. They have a promo going on with select P & G products, buy three get $3 off, limit of three rewards per transaction. The things I immediately see are:

Herbal Essences shampoo and /or conditioner 2/$5
If you buy six = $15
-$6 for sale = $9
Then use 3 of the $3/2 coupons from the P & G insert and your total would be $0! I love free shampoo!

Secret Deodorant is $2.39
Buy 3 = $7.17
-$3 for sale = 4.17
Use 3 of the .50 off from Sunday insert, they will double, so new total will be $1.17 OOP for 3. Not bad!

There are some other great deals to be had here on shaving gels, Old Spice deodorant, and lots of other P & G items. Pampers are included for those of you with little ones. Check out everything in the sales ad online at Kroger.com.

I just wanted to pass along the good deals. Happy shopping.
