Frugal Holiday Baking Tip - Pan Coating

21 December 2008
I love Bakers Joy spray, but use a ton of it this time of year. Buying lots of the stuff is just not very budget friendly. A friend recently gave me this recipe and I am hooked. It works better than any no stick pan coating I've ever used and is very CHEAP to make.

1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup Crisco
1/2 all purpose flour

Add all ingredients to a mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer until it is all blended and looks like marshmallow fluff. Store it in a lidded container. Mine is in a Gladware container. I've been keeping mine in my pantry and so far so good. I guess you could store it in the refrigerator if you wish. To use it, just brush onto pan with a clean pastry brush or paper towel.

I've used this for all my holiday baking and am beyond thrilled with the results!

Speaking of holiday baking, this is what's in my oven today:

Spicy Pumpkin Cake with Chocolate Chunks - I made one last Christmas and used it for gifts as well. Everyone raved about it! Plus, it makes your house smell yummy! Enjoy!

Just had to say thanks. Years ago when I was attempting my first and only wedding cake a friend gave me the recipe for no stick and it is wonderful... I had lost it and was never sure of the right amounts but Thanks!!!
