Frugal Friday: Eating Out, Staying In

11 April 2008
We like to eat, but often dining out just isn't in the budget. So, what do we do? We cook at home! I have found recipes for copycat versions of some of our favorite restaurant meals. You would be amazed by all the recipes you can find on the internet and how good they are!

Here are some of our favorites:
Like Applebee's Tequila Lime Chicken
Almost Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits
Copycat Pizza Hut Cavatini
I also have quite a few Johnny Carino's copycat recipes, but they are on the other computer. If you' like them, leave me a comment or an email.

And the kids love these magic milkshakes. They are very much like Wendy's Frostys.

I also make our own deep dish pizza. We are still trying bread stick and buffalo wing recipes to find one we all enjoy.

By cooking these at home, we get the same yummy dishes we crave at a fraction of the cost. Plus, we tend to all work on these meals together, so we get the bonus of extra family time. So, try looking up your favorite dish and see if you don't find a good copycat recipe. The results can be quite delicious!

I do this too. I would much rather make a lot of things at home. It is so much cheaper.

NESSA!!! I am so glad you found my blog! Yours is amazing, but you are amazing, so it's no surprise.

My hot wings are super easy, and sooo good.

Pack of wings
1/2 bottle BBQ sauce
couple tbs A-1 (just guessing)
good squeeze of honey
1/2 bottle of hot sauce (whatever brand was free -- use less if you don't want them really hot)
Salt & Pepper to taste
garlic salt to taste

Clean the wings and put them in a baking dish. Mix everything else and pour it on top, making sure all the wings get sauce on them. I use a pastry brush to coat them well. Cover with foil and bake at 350 for about 45 mins to an hour (until wings are done).
Serve with ranch or blue cheese for dipping.

So very good, so easy, and using coupons you only really pay for the wings. It works great with any cut of chicken, though.

Stop by and see me again!!!
