Some Mornings Are No Fun

DH is not a morning person. He is grumpy, snappy, and curt with anyone who gets in his way. This morning he was awful to everyone who was unfortunate enough to be awake, even the dog. I try to not let it ruffle my feathers. After all, this is just how he is.

Usually he'll call me in a couple of hours and be totally fine, like nothing every happened. I honestly think he doesn't realize how grumpy he is. I think part of it is his Skoal addiction and going all night without nicotine. I know there is no good excuse for bad behavior, but I've pretty much decided this particular behavior is not ever going to change.

I'm afraid today will be one of those days that he stays grumpy. Instead of letting his harsh mood roll off my back, I actually talked back to him. Probably not the wisest choice, but I was getting a "talking to" about making what he asked me to make him for dinner last night and for working on paid blog stuff after he went to bed. I had dinner done early last night, but he decided he wanted baked mac & cheese, which required a trip to the grocery store, the time to cook the pasta, bake time, etc...So, dinner was late and he knew it would be because I told him so when he thought the idea up. Then he got all huffy about me working on blog stuff instead of sleeping. He was over there snoring, so I'm not sure how this actually bothered him. Anyway, I was aggravated because I'm "in trouble" for cooking what he wants for dinner and trying to contribute to our families income? I do not think so. So, I told him he was being unfair. And that I don't appreciate being treated like a child.

I want to say right now that I didn't mean to be airing our dirty laundry this morning. But, I was curious if any of y'all have significant others that are just like completely different people in the morning. I have a good friend who's husband is very much like DH. Are we alone in this or are there more of us with non morning people living in our homes? If so, how do you handle the frustration their grumpiness causes?

So you invented mornings again--huh? I burrowed in and let DH get up on his own today. He had to close last night so was after 1 am to get home and had to be up at 5 am for early morning at plant. I did not want to be a part of it. Kept my eyes closed til he drove off. Sneaky huh?

My DH is always cheerful in the morning, I am not....he makes me crazy trying to talk to me before I am fully awake and ready to function for the day! He has learned to ignore my grumpies most of the time, but I am sure he feels the same as you!

I'm not a morning person @ all... so my hubs could probably write this same post... of course, with circumstances changed...about me :)... Isn't airing dirty laundry what blogging's about...
