Embracing the Positive in 2013

I've been sitting here thinking what I wanted to say about the New Year. I could ramble on and on about resolutions, but don't we all start the New Year with the best of intentions? Instead of resolutions, I've set a few goals. None of them grand, but small things I hope to accomplish for me. 2012 was a very difficult year for me. I want the coming year to be better. Though I cannot control the universe or fate or what have you, I can be responsible for my own actions.

“Well, we all make mistakes, dear, so just put it behind you. We should regret our mistakes and learn from them, but never carry them forward into the future with us.”
― L.M. MontgomeryAnne of Avonlea

This quote is from one of my favorite authors and I find it speaking to my heart on the first day of the New Year. I can control myself, my thoughts, my actions. So, as 2013 begins, I walk into it letting go of the negative in my life. Everything from grudges to hurt feelings to simply thinking negative thoughts. The biggest goal I'm setting for myself is embracing the positive and seeing the good in everything, even when it seems impossible. I'm facing 2013 with a grateful heart and a positive spirit.

Today is a clean slate, the beginning of a 365 page book, all full of blank pages waiting to be filled with the story of your lifetime. I choose to make my story for the year one of love and laughter, celebrating the good and letting go of the bad.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy, blessed New Year. Write a good story, y'all!
