I am not real tech savvy, so things like dedicated server hosting were Greek to me until recently. This site has lots of information that has helped me understand web hosting a bit better. The offer a blog with helpful articles like Advanced Web Hosting Technology, which helped me understand lots of the techie jargon I was unfamiliar with. Plus, the site lists the Top Ten Web Hosts, complete with prices, bonus features, and more. It's great for comparison shopping!
I am not quite ready to make the leap yet, I still feel I have much to learn, but Web hosting Geeks has really helped me understand some things much better. I know that when I do switch from the Blogger platform that I need to have an email account associated with my site, and I suppose ample storage space, but past that I am unsure of my needs. The internet is a vast place and trying to learn all the ins and outs can be quite a task! I know some of you have your own nonBlogger hosted custom domains, and I would really appreciate any advice you could give me. I look forward to reading about your experiences with this.
