I Am Tired of Being Sick!

A big pile of sick, that pretty much sums up life around here lately. Poor Dan just came home from work sick, again. He seems to have the same icky virus our neighbor has been fighting the last few days. The whole neighborhood seems to be just passing stuff around the past few weeks. We were both sick on Christmas Day as well. It seems both of us have been ill off and on for the six weeks or more. It has been no fun. I've fallen behind on the housework and he has used all his sick time at work. All these illnesses have been viruses and such, I'm sure flu season will bring more lovely sick time. Generally we all four get the flu at once. I can't tell you how happy that thought makes me!

Lately I've been trying to figure out ways to prevent us from getting sick, or at least from sharing it. I've disinfected everything in the house more times than I can count. I preach at the kids to wash their hands constantly. Sickness abounds despite all my efforts. I am really beginning to think we need to be on multivitamins and immunity boosters. I've heard really good things about Beta Glucan, so we may give that a try. It is said to be a real help to your immune system and overall health. Anything that helps boost the immune system has got to be a good thing, especially with flu season coming on. I am so tired of being sick!

This fall and winter seems to have hit our family especially hard. The past week we've had low temperatures in the 20s with highs in the mid 70s, which I'm sure is not helping anyone health wise. How about you? Has your family had more than it's fair share of the icky stuff lately? Is the weather being all weird where you live?

This Mama Is Sick

05 November 2008
Yesterday around noon, I started getting chills and my stomach felt like it was full of lead. I had a 102.3 temperature. I took some Motrin and napped until the kids came home from school. I stayed up and tried to be coherent until Dan came home. The kids sat in our bedroom floor and did their homework while I lay down and supervised. After he came home, my night is somewhat a blur. I slept int hat weird, thick, fever induced sleep for awhile. My fever broke around 11 and I thought I'd be okay, but by 1:30 it was over 105! Yuck!

So today my tummy feels better, but my temp goes up every three hours, I guess when the medicine wears off. It's going to make today fun. I am going to try to get a few things done, then lay about the rest of the day. I hope I feel better soon.

Does your whole house fall apart when you feel unwell? It seems that I'm the only person capable of doing anything around here. Me asking for a bowl of soup last night was a major ordeal. It amuses me that if anyone else in this house was ill they'd have a cold wash cloth for their head, something cool to drink on the night stand, and be basically waited on hand and foot. I guess us Mamas are a rare breed. Thankfully, I have a wonderful friend who I know will come help me if I really need anything. It's nice to know someone cares.

Since this is turning into a long babbling post and I'm getting chilled, I think I'll sign off now. I'm going to curl up under the covers and watch To Sir With Love and try to feel better.

Y'all have a good day!
