My Quiet Time

02 October 2009
One of my favorite times of day is early morning, just after Dan leaves for work, before the children wake up. I take a cup of coffee or tea, go out on the front porch, and curl up in my big chair. This is my quiet time. During this time, I spend my daily quiet time with God. I may pray, or more talk things over with Him. I may do some bible study. Or sometimes I read devotions.

I am very picky when it comes to devotional books. I love ones that are geared for women and mothers, but I like them to be relevant to my life. I don't live in a perfect house with the white picket fence and the smiling, well dressed children. My life is messy. Some days I want to pull my hair out. Where is the devotional book for women like me?

Then I was asked to review Intimate Conversations by Alicia Britt Chole. This author has absolutely nailed everything I've ever wanted in a devotional book. She realizes that life is messy. She shares stories of her own life, along with scripture, and helps us see God's presence in our everyday lives. I loved this book after reading the first devotion. Isn't it great when just what you've been looking for just falls into your lap? God is so good.

I highly recommend Intimate Conversations by Alicia Britt Chole. It is full of wonderful, insightful devotions for all women. I love that these are devotions that I can relate to, so many devotional books I find I cannot get into because they don't apply to me. This book was a wonderful change. Go check it out for yourself!

As someone who is trying to get back on her walk with God, can I borrow your copy before purchasing my own. It is hard when you are the only believer in your home.
